As a result of the author's unique contacts, she was able to obtain direct and extraordinary information, both documentary and human, on the robbery of the Royal Mail train at 3.30am on August 8, 1963 which was travelling from Glasgow to Euston. It was stopped by armed robbers at Sears Crossing, near Linsdale in Buckinghamshire and robbed of over £2 million. By the end of the ensuing trial, 12 men had received sentences amounting to 307yrs.
