Hardback. Intro' by Mark Van Doren. Told by a young Harvard man who set out with a friend and relative, Quincy Adams Shaw, on 28th April, 1846, on a "tour of amusement to the Rocky Mountains". Although not in good health he managed to endure the rigours of plain and mountain travel, hunt buffaloes and Indians and to suffer lonely journeys under a broiling sun when he was faint with thirst and fever.
