A booklet published by the National Council for the Abolition of the Death Penalty, in which the author relates a conversation on a train journey with two passengers discussing the Death Penalty. One felt that it should not be abolished but that hangings should be done 'quietly' and not made entertainment for idle men and women to gloat over. The other felt that it was supposed to be such a terrible object lesson that people would learn by it, but felt it should not be continued.
