The book consists of edited text taken from manuscripts written by elderly residents of the East End - with reminiscences, anecdotes and stories of a former London in which these men and women grew up. The text is complemented by old photographs belonging to the writers - family scenes and groups, street scenes, etc. A book portraying a dying if not already dead world, which really belongs to the 19th rather than 20th century. Among the 19 contributors is Social Historian, Professor William J.
