Hardback. INSC. AND SIGNED. The author drew on his experience as a former chief of that group of specially chosen detectives, who became known as "The Vice Squad". The authors undertook a thorough survey of the underworld of vice that existed in London and they have filled in some of the obvious gaps in the Wolfenden Report, (Report of the Committee on Homosexual Offences and Prostitution published in 1957). They present a number of striking case histories to corroborate their conclusions as to why women become prostitutes. At time of publication, the book was immensely topical as it was able to assess the immediate effect and the consequences of the Act that came into force late 1959. With Index. 208pp. 8vo. h/back. Includes 5 loosely inserted newspaper cuttings from 'News of the World' and 'Daily Mirror'. PRESENTATION COPY INSCRIBED AND SIGNED BY JOHN GOSLING.
