Hardback. SIGNED. In 1975 Paul Hill, aged 21, was sentenced to serve the rest of his natural life in prison after being convicted of charges arising out of the Guildford and Woolwich pub bombings. It was, at the time, the longest prison sentence ever handed down by a British court. In spite of his conviction, based on uncorroborated confession evidence, Paul was determined to prove his innocence. Fifteen years later, in October 1989, the Crown finally admitted that investigating officers had lied at the original trial. The conviction was overturned and Paul and his 3 co-accused, together known as the Guildford Four, were released. This book is the story of Paul's life. Illus., Chronology and Index. 287pp. 8vo. h/back. PRESENTATION COPY INSC. AND SIGNED BY PAUL HILL. F. in F. protected dw.
