Hardback. The author was a defence attorney in Florida's Broward County involved in the 'Catch Me Killer' case, having agreed to defend police officer Robert Erler. Erler had been charged with the murder of 12yr. old Merilyn Clark, whose mother was shot at the time but survived. The police, according to the author, were determined to convict their fellow officer, who found the body, so they withheld crucial evidence and perjured themselves; persuaded her mother, Dorothy Clark, to identify the suspect in court; and were aided by an outspoken anti-Erler judge. Erler was convicted and sentenced to 99 years plus. With the stigma of being an ex-policeman and a child killer, he suffered severe persecution from the other inmates. After his appeal was denied, Erler escaped and spent 8 months on a spree of sex, drugs and crime and was wounded during his recapture. Eventualluy Erler "found God" and confessed to the crime. The author was convinced the killer was still at large. Contains exclusive crime photos. 342pp. 8vo. h/back. From the library of true crime writer, Wilfred Gregg, with his personal b/plate. F. in f. dw. A heavy book which may require additional postage.
