Hardback. The author chose to write this book as the result of impending changes in the English law of murder and insanity. He felt it an appropriate time for a book on some of the greatest murder cases ever tried under the law in force at the time, invoking the death penalty. Most of the 14 cases were tried in Britain by the English courts, but one was tried in Scotland under Scottish law and one was tried in the American Courts. In 2 cases he deals with the crime rather than the trial, the murder of King Ananda of Thailand, and of Trotsky, both of which occurred abroad, as did the crime of the "Nazi murderers", and the trial of Col.
