Paperback - Uncorrected Proof. In January 1958, a 19yr. old Nebraskan, Charles Raymond Starkweather, accompanied and possibly assisted by his 14yr. old girlfriend, Caril Ann Fugate, murdered 10 people in 8 days. After their capture, Starkweather confessed to having committed another murder the previous month. The media said that it was the second worst case of multiple murder in United States history, topped only by Howard Unruh, a deranged ex-serviceman who in 1949 shot and killed 13 people in Camden, New Jersey. Starkweather's life ended with his execution, but Caril Fugate was sentenced to life imprisonment. Uncorrected Proof, with no illustrations, even thought they are mentioned. 195pp. soft cover. Some patchy fading. Vg.
