Some time later Arthur Allan Thomas was charged with their murder and found guilty. Eventually, after a second trial and many investigations, the last one by the author, on December 17, 1979, Thomas was granted a royal pardon, and in 1980 awarded nearly 1 million dollars in compensation for the 9yrs he had served behind bars.
