Hardback. 1st US edn. Originally a journalist, Le Queux reported on the Whitechapel Murders in 1888 for 'The Globe' where he was the foreign editor. He subsequently wrote several books on Russia and claimed that amongst documents in his possession, was a manuscript on 'Great Russian Criminals', typed in French from Rasputin's dictation. This stated that Dr. Alexander Pedachenko was Jack the Ripper. This claim is made in this book - chapter XVIII entitled 'About Other Spies and the Truth Concerning "Jack the Ripper"'. Also includes a chapter on Crippen. Illus., Index. 320pp. 8vo. h/back. From the library of Paul Daniel, ex-editor of the 'Ripperologist' magazine (December 1996 No. 8 - February 2000 No. 27), with a tipped-in post-it note written by Paul to bep. Browned edges, dull and worn sp. with no gilt left on the lettering, corners rubbed, o/w G+.
