Softcover. While JtR was perpetrating his murderous crimes in Whitechapel, Charles Warren wrote this article 'Police of the Metropolis', for 'Murray's Magazine'. Henry Matthews, the Home Secretary, wrote to Warren because of an 1879 Home Office ruling which had forbidden officers from publishing anything relating to the Department without the Home Secretary's permission. Warren wrote back the same day declining to accept the Home Secretary's ruling and tendered his resignation on the 8th November. This was oficially accepted on the 10th November. Though Warren continued his duties until much later. he was replaced by James Monro as Commissioner. Mary Kelly was murdered on the 9th November 1888. 20pp. paper wraps booklet with a picture of Lieut.-General Sir Charles Warren, G.C.M.G on the front cover. F. Extremely Scarce.
