Softcover. The New Hampshire State Prison is located in Concord, New Hampshire. Two hundred and sixty men were imprisoned behind its walls in 1973 and the cost to the tax-payer for keeping one prisoner at the time was $6,000. The full story of the lock-up and shake-down was only really known by the prisoners themselves, but as they were not allowed to speak, this is a reconstruction of the story. The problems began in February with the appointment of a brutal guard to kitchen duty. Prisoners stopped work and the governor suspended the man. The guards then threatened to strike. This is the story of the explosive events which then escalated. 15pp. trade size soft cover. Lightly marked stapled orange card covers o/w Vg. with no creasing to covers. Scarce
