On September 28, 1941 golf star Marion Miley and her mother were killed at the Lexington (Kentucky) Country Club during a botched burglary. Three men were convicted: Robert Anderson, Thomas Penney and Raymond Baxter. Penney, the mastermind, fingered Anderson, whom he hated, as his accomplice. While on death row Penney converted to Catholicism and recanted his testimony. Penney was executed in the electric chair on February 26, 1943. The author was in possession of 221 letters two poems, two thirds of a thumbnail autobiography, and a last will and testament written by Penney. 211pp. 8vo. h/back.
