John Peltier was a French journalist, and founder of royalist pamphlet 'Les Actes des Apôtres'. In 1792 he fled to England where he published a series of attacks against the Republic, under the title of 'Tableau de Paris'. Between 1794 and 1802 he published a journal, 'L'Ambigu', violently attacking Napoleon. He was found guilty, but not called up for judgement, ie the case was dropped. He returned to France in 1820.
