Hardback. A book of Reminiscences by one of the senior police officers (City of London Police) involved in the unsolved Jack the Ripper murders which took place in Whitechapel, 1888. He was one of the few who was given a favourable press at the time. Chapter XVI is entitled 'Of the Ripper and His Deeds - And of the Criminal Investigator, Sir Robert Anderson'. An important Ripper associated book, and one of the rarest. One Portrait Frontis. with printed signature and tissue-guard. 237pp. lge. 8vo. h/back. Original red cloth with bright gilt fr. cover and sp. titles. Teg, uncut edges, v.v. lightly browned eps, one corner sl. crumpled (see image). Overall a lovely Nr. F. copy of an extremely scarce police memoir. A fairly heavy book which will require additional postage if shipped overseas.
