Paperback. The author saw Haigh the day before he was executed. He was twice brought from the condemned cell to see him. The first time he went at the wish of his elderly parents, and was under pledge to the Home Secretary not to report what took place. The second time Somerfield went to see him at Haigh's own request - one of the last he made. They spent some time together in Wandsworth Gaol while he made his last requests about the disposal of his personal belongings. He left nothing of value or interest, except to relatives and friends, and the list of his possessions, meagre and strangely pathetic, clearly demonstrated once again that crime doesn't pay. With 16pp. of photo-exhibits. 127pp. p/back. Lightly soiled covers. Nr. vg.
