Hardback. 1st UK edn. A scandal that occurred at the close of the 19th-century and concerned the operation of a male brothel at 19 Cleveland Street in London's West End, where post office boys earned money in their spare time, and notable patrons were alleged to have included Lord Arthur Somerset, equerry to the Prince of Wales, later to be Edward VII. Other clients it appears were from the aristocratic circle of the son of the Prince of Wales, Prince Albert Victor. An expose of the seamy, still little known workings of the Victorian underworld. Also highlighted - a memoir by a young male prostitute named Jack Saul, who wrote in some detail about the circle of distinguished gentlemen who sought his services. Illus., Sources + Bibliog. 236pp. 8vo. h/back. F. in Nr. F. dw. (v. sl. faded sp.).
