Hardback. Sacco and Vanzetti were two Italian immigrant anarchists living in the Boston area in 1920 who were accused of a payroll robbery and the murder of two guards. They were arrested, and after a long trial based on inadequate and prejudiced evidence, they were executed in 1927. The author researched the case in Britain and Boston interviewing and gathering information which, prior to the passing of the Freedom of Information Act after the Watergate scandal, had been unavailable. He places the trial in the social climate of the period and exposes the nature of anarchism, by looking at the lives of two of its exponents. The result is a moving reassessment of a case that still troubles America. With Background Sources + Index of names. 208pp. 8vo. h/back. From the library of true-crime writer, Wilfred Gregg, with his personal b/plate. Vg+ in Vg. dw.
